The NEC SX-ACE is a vector computer in the tradition of the SX series. Compared to SX-9, the nodes are small (only 4 cores and 64GB RAM) and compact (64 nodes in one rack).

Warning: FINAL SHUTDOWN March 31th 2019 We would like to inform you that the final shut down of the computer system NEC SX-ACE @ HLRS will take place on March 8th 2019. This measure is necessary in order to prepare the installation of the successor system Hawk.


The NEC SX-ACE is a vector computer in the tradition of the SX series. Compared to SX-9, the nodes are small (only 4 cores and 64GB RAM) and compact (64 nodes in one rack).

HLRS installation named kabuki consists of one rack with 64 nodes and a NEC ScaTeFS filesystem of 250TB.
